Session 5 - January 9th - It's a small world

Miss Burns led a session on cells.  The girls learnt that they are the smallest units of life and that their bodies are made up of trillions of different types of cells.  They looked through the microscopes at a variety of cells such as muscle, cheek, blood and skin cells and discussed the differences and similarities between them.  The girls correctly identified many characteristics of cells and Miss Burns explained their function and purpose.

The girls then had a great time creating their own animal and plant cells using jelly as cytoplasm and a variety of sweets as the nucleus, cell membrane, mitochondria etc.  they were thrilled to take their creations home to eat!

Thank you to Miss Burns for a great morning.
